Big Apple Car's imposition of a fuel surcharge is dependent upon a weekly review of the Department of Energy's report of retail gasoline prices in the New York City region. If this report, which can be accessed online at EIA.gov, reveals that the average cost per gallon of premium, reformulated, unleaded gasoline for the previous week exceeds $2.99, Big Apple Car shall impose a surcharge based upon the extent by which prices surpassed this $2.99 benchmark.
There is no surcharge if the average cost per gallon is less than $2.99.
The fuel surcharge is calculated according to the following formula:
|If the weekly Retail Gasoline Price for NYC, premium grade, as reported by the DOE is:||Then the Fuel Surcharge on Local Trips (NYC) is:||And the Fuel Surcharge on Borough Trips is:||And the Fuel Surcharge on Out-of-Town Trips is:|
|$3.00 - $3.50||$1.00||$3.00||$5.00|
|$3.51 - $4.99||$2.00||$4.00||$6.00|
|$5.00 & above||$4.00||$6.00||$8.00|
